DICOM Download & Medical Imaging Export Guide
No DICOM package, an online-only hospital viewer, or an unfamiliar export process? Medical Image Download is FineSight's hospital imaging retrieval service. Submit a valid link or QR code for your own study or one you are authorized to retrieve. The service downloads, exports or converts available data into DICOM and saves available reports according to the platform, without you having to inspect network traffic or write download scripts.
What to check for CT, MR, X-ray and angiography downloads
These examinations may use DICOM, often with a .dcm extension. A modality name alone does not establish download support. Retrieval and export depend on the current authorization, exact hospital sharing entry and files actually provided by its platform.
- CT and MR/MRI: keep complete series rather than only a localizer, representative image or report screenshot. MPR and 3D reconstruction also require suitable spatial information and tomographic data.
- X-ray (DR/CR): distinguish hospital-provided DICOM from web display images. An ordinary photograph cannot restore original medical pixels and tags.
- Angiography (such as XA/DSA): check dynamic series, instances, frame counts and provenance. A multi-frame DICOM can contain multiple images; a screenshot or report is not the complete sequence, and not every angiography entry is supported.
Check the exact hospital and sharing entry, then continue on the download page. Retrieval requires submitting the authorized link and necessary verification details; prices and credit options follow the page before submission. The local 影览知微 viewer is free and needs no installation, but cannot retrieve a hospital link itself.
Check these first
- You are the patient, legal guardian, or an expressly authorized representative.
- The hospital link is still valid and opens the images in a browser.
- You have any password, verification code, or other information requested by the hospital page.
Please submit only links and records you are authorized to retrieve. The service does not provide medical advice. The available processing path depends on what the hospital platform provides.
Steps
1. Prepare the link or QR code
Copy the hospital cloud imaging link, or save the QR code as an image. Do not post real QR codes, patient names, or reports in public channels.
2. Submit it
Paste the link on the download page or choose “Upload QR code”. Enter one link per line for multiple studies. If the hospital requests extra information, follow its original instructions.
3. Wait for processing and validation
Follow the task status, then save the imaging archive and available report. Depending on the platform data, the service retrieves original DICOM or delivers clearly identified rewrapped, reconstructed or converted DICOM (.dcm). The task result states provenance and completeness.
4. Share with a doctor or viewer
Open a downloaded local ZIP, complete folder or .dcm file in our free online DICOM viewer, or extract the archive for a desktop viewer or another doctor. Previewing a file does not replace hospital export or the receiving clinician's judgment. Save your own copy before the delivery link expires.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a screenshot not enough?
A screenshot shows one visible frame and usually omits the full series and metadata needed for review, measurements, or reconstruction.
Do hospital imaging links all work the same way?
Start by submitting a valid authorized link or QR code; you do not need to identify interfaces or write scripts yourself. The service determines the retrieval, download or conversion path from the exact platform, version and verification flow. Unrecognized entries can be submitted for adaptation assessment. Support and deliverables depend on that result.
What if the download fails?
Confirm that the link is valid, the verification details are correct, and the images still open in the hospital page. Keep the task number and contact support instead of reposting the link.
Check the hospital's own export options first
Look in the study details or viewer for Download, Export, Original images, or DICOM. If the hospital provides a complete study package, you can save it directly. Available controls and export scope depend on the hospital.
If the portal only offers viewing, the export option is unclear, or you need assistance, submit a valid, authorized sharing link here and follow the detection results.
Four checks after collecting the files
- Correct study: compare the patient, exam date, and body part. Keep separate exams distinct.
- Series coverage: check the delivered scope. Opening one file does not establish that the whole study is complete.
- Report availability: images and reports are separate records. Reports are delivered when available from the source and supported for the task; a missing report alone does not mean the images are incomplete.
- Local copy: confirm the download finishes, the archive extracts, and the study folder can be imported into a viewer.
Check the current payment or credit terms on the download page before submitting. Processing time depends on study size, hospital connectivity, and any adaptation work.
Check these points before downloading
- Confirm the link belongs to the intended examination and is still authorized.
- Look for a hospital study-export option; report download is separate from image download.
- If using this service, confirm the recognized entry, processing option and quote before submission.
- Keep the complete folder and provenance information and use the receiving hospital's accepted transfer method.
