Save CT / MRI on your phone
Save Hospital CT or MRI Images on a Phone or Computer
To keep a hospital CT or MRI study on your phone or computer, download the complete study package and available report. A QR code or screenshot in Photos is not a complete study. Medical Image Download processes verified authorized sharing entries; you can open the resulting DICOM in 影览知微 (影览), our free online DICOM viewer, or compatible desktop software.
Prepare a valid hospital share
- Confirm that the hospital link still displays your study. Provide only the verification details requested by the hospital.
- Use the hospital's own export option when available. To use this service, paste the complete authorized link on the download page or select a clear QR code image.
- An app-only entry may require the hospital's browser-sharing or export option. A screenshot does not establish download support.
- A redemption code can be used as instructed without WeChat sign-in. Long-pressing this website's login QR code on a phone is not a reliable login method.
iPhone: find the study in Files
- Use Safari or another standard browser to open the task's imaging download or retrieval page and complete the download.
- Open Files and check Downloads. Depending on browser settings, this may be in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone.
- Check that the ZIP was saved completely. Extract it if supported; if storage is insufficient, keep the archive and use a computer with enough space.
- Save the report separately. Native PDF preview support does not imply native DICOM support.
Android: check the browser's downloads
- Complete retrieval in a mobile browser. If an embedded app browser cannot download the file, use a standard browser as directed.
- Check browser download history or the Download folder in your file manager.
- Do not rename or repeatedly extract an unfinished download. Check the connection, free space and retrieval deadline.
- Keep the complete extracted folder, report and source information. Use a compatible DICOM viewer when needed.
Computer: find the complete study
- After retrieval, open the file location from your browser's download history. Downloads is a common location, but browser settings can change it.
- Make sure the ZIP is complete and keep the archive. To share the study with a doctor or use desktop software, extract the whole archive into a folder with enough free space instead of picking a single image.
- Keep the study folder, available report and source information together. See the second-opinion guide before copying to a USB drive.
What to keep
- The complete study archive rather than one selected image.
- The report PDF or other report files available from the hospital.
- The examination date, body part and provenance information.
The ZIP and extracted files may both consume storage. A cloud-storage placeholder is not necessarily a local copy; make files available offline before the appointment.
View the files and ask how to deliver them
To review files you have already downloaded, open 影览知微, the free online DICOM viewer, and select a local ZIP, .dcm file or folder. No installation is required; images are parsed in your browser without being uploaded to this service.
Browse CT/MRI slices and use MPR or 3D display for eligible series; see the 3D guide for structure processing and export requirements. Encoding, browser support, device memory and series conditions limit these features; not every study supports 3D. The viewer cannot retrieve hospital links or provide a medical diagnosis.
Desktop DICOM software is another option; see how to open DCM files. A visible image alone does not certify its provenance or clinical suitability.
Ask the receiving hospital which transfer methods it accepts. Send the entire study as files; photo-sharing options may convert or compress images. Use an approved alternative if a messaging service has size limits.
Do not share identifying images, QR codes or passwords publicly. The receiving clinician decides whether the material is suitable and whether another examination is needed. See the second-opinion preparation guide.
Frequently asked questions
Can I save a CT study in Photos?
You can save screenshots there, but they are not a complete DICOM study. Keep the study package in Files or a file manager and save the available report separately.
Where does an iPhone save imaging downloads?
Check the browser's download history and Downloads in Files. Depending on settings, the location may be iCloud Drive or On My iPhone.
Does an unreadable .dcm file mean the download failed?
Not necessarily. Phones usually cannot preview DICOM directly. Check that the download completed, then use a compatible viewer; 影览知微, our free online DICOM viewer, opens local files, folders or ZIPs without uploading images to this service.
Does saving a QR code keep an expired share working?
No. A saved QR code does not extend hospital authorization. Save local files before expiry or request a fresh valid share from the hospital.
