How to Download Hospital Electronic Film and Export DICOM

If a hospital electronic film offers viewing only, no DICOM package or a difficult export process, use FineSight's Medical Image Download. Submit a valid authorized link or QR code to retrieve, export or convert DICOM according to the platform and save available images and reports, without installing a separate downloader or saving individual images yourself.

Steps

  1. Confirm that you are authorized to retrieve the study and prepare the hospital link or QR code.
  2. Open the link in a browser and confirm that the images and report are still available. Follow the hospital page if it requests a password or verification code.
  3. Paste the link or upload its QR code on the download page, provide the requested verification details, and wait for recognition, processing and file checks. Results may contain original DICOM or clearly identified rewrapped, reconstructed or converted files.
  4. Save the study archive and report before the delivery period ends. Preview downloaded local files in our free online DICOM viewer, or share the complete study with a doctor or desktop viewer.

Please submit only records you are authorized to retrieve. The service does not provide medical advice.

Frequently asked questions

How can I download hospital electronic film locally?

Submit a valid authorized link or QR code to FineSight's Medical Image Download and provide the details requested by the hospital. Depending on platform capabilities, the service retrieves original DICOM or rewraps, reconstructs or converts available data into DICOM, together with available reports. Save the delivered package and check its provenance.

Do I need to install cloud-film downloader software?

Supported web download entries require no separate downloader, network capture or custom script. Open the saved DICOM in FineSight's free local viewer afterward; free local viewing does not make the download service free.

Why do export methods differ?

Hospitals use different portals, verification flows, and file interfaces. The available download, export, or conversion path is determined from the exact authorized share.

Are the exported files always source DICOM?

Not always. The result distinguishes original platform files, official exports, and DICOM that was rewrapped, reconstructed or converted from display images. Conversion cannot restore original pixels, series or acquisition information that the platform did not provide.

Download, export, and conversion

What each operation means
Operation Meaning What to check
Download Save a file supplied by the platform. The button may provide a report PDF or picture rather than a DICOM study.
Export The platform creates a study package or selected records. Check whether it includes the whole study or selected series.
Conversion Repackage or reconstruct available data as DICOM. Check the source and conversion method; the same extension does not imply the same original information.

DICOM conversion cannot restore missing source data

Repackaging a DICOM dataset, reconstructing from pixels, and wrapping a screenshot are different processes. If a portal exposes only rendered pictures, changing the extension or container cannot recover missing series, acquisition parameters, or pixel information.

Tell the receiving doctor how the files were obtained. If source DICOM is specifically required, request it from the imaging hospital; the .dcm extension alone does not establish equivalence.

Saving to a computer, phone or USB drive

Save the ZIP before extracting it into a folder with enough space. On a phone, use Files or a file manager rather than Photos. If the receiving hospital accepts USB drives, copy the complete study folder, report and provenance information, then check that files remain readable.

Confirm accepted media and formats first; do not copy only one selected .dcm file or screenshot.
